Tag You're It!!

Well, I have been tagged by Melissa. So, I guess there are some rules to this game, and they are as follows: List 6 little known things, obsessions, or quirks about yourself and then tag someone else to do the same....So, ready or not hear I go.….

Movies - To start things off, I just have to get this out in the open. I hate the movie "Forrest Gump." Yes, I know, it's an American Icon, but I just can't stand that movie. It's got to be the stupidest movie ever made. And to add salt to the wound, I think it plays 24 hours a day on cable (kind of like "Ground Hogs Day", but at least that's a good movie.) Bill just relishes finding it on cable and having it play when I walk into the room.

Fears - You won't catch me dead on a ferris wheel!!! Don't even try, it will be of no use - you couldn't pay me enough to go on one. I went on one once and I was just certain we were going to tip over and die. The fact that my father was rocking it, and laughed every time I squealed probably didn't help. He was the biggest tease there was.
Travel - I love to travel. I want to see the world. One of my dreams is to travel to Antarctica!! Don't know if I'll ever get there, but I can dream can't I? I also love to plan our trips. You just ask my family, months before we leave I'll spend hours pouring over books, blogs, travelogues, etc so we won't miss out on anything. One of the hardest things that I've had to learn is actually how to relax on a vacation, just enjoy the moment, rather than try to experience everything there is to experience.

School - You all know already that I work at a University. I see the students come in all the time working towards their degrees. My own two sons have their degrees, I have a daughter in law soon to have hers and another daughter in law will be continuing on hers soon too. I've discovered that I don't want to be left out. Even though I'm old, I don't think it's too late. So I'm going to go back to school and get my degree too.

Free time - I love to work in my yard. I love to garden. I could sit for hours and just watch the birds and butterflies flying amongst the flowers. Nothing gives me more of a sense of satisfaction than a newly turned over piece of earth with freshly planted flowers. I love the smell of freshly cut grass which is probably the reason why I actually enjoy cutting my lawn.

Joy - The joy in my life of course is my family. Starting with my wonderful husband of almost 30 years. There's nothing better than being married to your best friend. He makes me laugh and when I think of him it brings a smile to my face. Next, my two wonderful sons. They make me laugh too!! I remember family vacations where we spent the whole time laughing and Bill would get so frustrated at us - he'd tell us to behave because we were acting like juveniles, but we made so many memories on these trips. The choices my sons have made for their wives - I couldn't have done better if I'd hand picked them myself. I feel like I have been blessed in so many ways, I'm just amazed when I look at the families they are starting for themselves. I know pride is a sin, but I can't help it, I'm so proud of my family. And finally, don't get me started on grandchildren - of course I have the smartest and most beautiful grandchildren, but would you expect any less??

I guess that's it, my official posting. So I now officially tag Bill and Trudy.

Our New Children

Our New Hawaiian Grandchildren

Instead of "Where's Waldo?", we have a new version of the game we get to play around here, It's called "Where's Smeagul and Meka?
You have to look closely to find them in this picture, Meka is at his usual post, taking the high ground - and Smeagul is trying to camouflage himself. He's under the illusion that he can blend in.
Don't let the serene look on his face fool you, he's actually very aware of everything around him, just waiting for the first unsuspecting fly to go zipping by.

We were under the impression that we were bringing home two cats with us from Hawaii. But we've actually become aware that Matt and Melissa were hiding something - these aren't cats!! They're actually wild animals!!!! We have one Giraffe Necked feline and a rare, thought to be extinct, Hawaiian Polar Bear.

Even though it meant he had to get up early, Smeagul found himself getting into the Christmas Spirit.

The End

Two of my most favorite people in the world!!

Last night was so much fun, we got to babysit and be Grandpa and Grandma for an evening. As the pictures probably show, we spent the evening chasing after a little "rug rat" and Gizmo spent the evening running from a little "rug rat." A warning though, as Bill found out, watch out when Lia gives kisses!! Especially now that she has 2 teeth, she gives very wet kisses and lots of them. Fun, fun, fun!!!

This is a picture of Bill's "Pin Up Girl"

What better way to get on board the blog ship, than starting with a picture of ourselves up in Oregon. We went there for Matthew and Melissa's wedding reception.

The coastline in the back of this picture should look familiar to some of you (i.e. Billy) because this is where "Goonies" was filmed. For those of you who don't know, but "Goonies" is Billy's favorite movie.

We'll try to use this blog space to keep you updated with our lives as we anxiously await your posts as well.
